July 12, 2023. John J. Malm & Associates has been retained by a passenger to investigate and pursue claims against Greyhound and others for the severe personal injuries she suffered in a Greyhound bus crash on Interstate 70 in Madison County, Illinois, on July 12, 2023. The crash occurred before 2:00 a.m. in the morning when the bus struck three tractor-trailers that were parked along the shoulder on westbound Interstate 70. Witnesses have indicated that the Greyhound bus began to pass over rumble strips prior to the crash. After colliding with the tractor-trailers, tragically, three people lost their lives and several others were severely injured.
There will now be an investigation as to the cause of the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation into all potential causes of this serious crash. Early reports indicate that the vehicle was equipped with forward and rear-facing cameras. The video evidence, along with electronic data from the vehicle, evidence collected at the scene, and witness reports, will be important in assessing the reason this preventable crash occurred.
John J. Malm & Associates will prosecute a claim against Greyhound, its driver, Raymond Paradise, and all others responsible for this incident. According to Marilynn Frangella, “our client has suffered real and significant injuries, including an orbital bone fracture and a large laceration to her face. In addition to her physical injuries, she was exposed to a traumatic scene as she escaped the bus while it was on fire. Our client must now focus on her healing and recovery.”
